Fuse blows for new H4 head lights
This morning, driving to work at about 06:45, in the dark, my front and rear lights suddenly switched off. Twizy was fine otherwise, still driving, just not very safe anymore at that time of day

To make a long story short, I found this:

I still had indicators, reverse light, brake lights, high beams, just no regular lights (front AND rear) and all other systems. According to the fuse box schematic, this fuse serves the Beleuchtungshebel:

I think I know what happened. Early december, I installed Osram H4 cool blue intense headlamps. They give great light, but it would appear they also use more power. These two new bulbs plus the rear lights seem to have overloaded the 10A fuse, and there I was. I installed a 15A fuse and everything is fine now.

Do you guys think it is safe to leave the 15A fuse in? The current clearly is more than 10A, but it can't be much more than 10A, because the fuse lasted about three weeks under this load.

Also, a couple of fuses are not according to the standard. I have ordered a set of fuses and I'll make everything standard except the one that failed this morning.

2020 Twizy 80 with Korea windows. I have a Twiz'O'meter which is connected to my Home Assistant. I have a type 2 adapter and a CEE adapter so I can charge everywhere. I can read and understand German pretty well, but I can't write it ;-) So please feel free to reply in German to my English posts.

Don't switch your fuses for bigger ones!
Find what's wrong an fix that.

The cables behind that lights have ceartain ampere rating.
If you change the fuse you risk a melt an even fire in some circumstances.

Look if there is any corrosion on the contacts that would couse you extra resisance snd voltage drop(i.e. heatup)

Gruß
Frank

I have never seen a fuse like this. Normally the wire inside melts and that's it.

Are you sure, the bulbs are not with 100W?

Jupp, but this kind of fuse last "forever" with the nominal 10Amps plus a bit more... but they heat up and so the plastic melts first. Especially if.. "cheap" ones are in use.

Cool Blue interns are listed with the normal 60/55 watts, so they drew no more current than other legal h4 bulbs…. There must be another problem or just a fuse with an error inside

Just in case ...

Be aware, there are also fake fuses in the market. China makes everything possible... I am not kidding!

Be sure to buy fuses only from known good sources / dealers
