[Twiz O'Meter] Dream list for future improvements

Plans for the future...
I shared some times ago my dream list about this project. Yes, they are only dreams that could enter in the to do list, but as I'm not sure to start them, I can promise nothing.

Dream List
1) WiFi connection to send data relying on MQTT broker, for home integration
2) a very (very, very, very ) basic android app, for pushing notifications (charge started/completed, for example)
3) some little icons on the bottom side of the display, like the ones in the notification tray of an android phone, for warning purposes (motor/battery overheating, connection lost, low battery charge, etc...).
4) good-bye screen/animation at power-off (thanks to JPB for the idea)
5) trip info page, with current usage, estimated km left, kWh per trip etc. (thanks to HollandHannes for the idea).

To be clear: don't create any expectation about the above "dreams" and not decide for Twizy o'meter trusting these dreams will become true, because, you know, often dreams stay dreams and don't become true!

Someone shared with me his "dream list".
He wrote:
1. Running a webserver and providing a gui for easier configuration
2. providing ota firmware updates for the blackbox within the web ui
3. providing an WLAN access point on the blackbox
4. implementing some OVMS functionality like changing the charging power changing recuperation
I dont' know if he wish to be mentioned as the author of this list, because he wrote me in private. In case I'l do!
But I want to publish thank him to have tickled my curiosity.

All the above tasks are really interesting, and "forced" to me to make some research, with the result I have to update my dream list as follow:
1) WiFi connection to send data relying on MQTT broker, for home integration Implemented in Fw 1.3 update!
2) a very (very, very, very ) basic android app, for pushing notifications (charge started/completed, for example) Implemented in Fw 1.3 update!
3) some little icons on the bottom side of the display, like the ones in the notification tray of an android phone, for warning purposes (motor/battery overheating, connection lost, low battery charge, etc...).
4) good-bye screen/animation at power-off (thanks to JPB for the idea) Implemented in Fw 1.3 update!
5) trip info page, with current usage, estimated km left, kWh per trip etc. (thanks to HollandHannes for the idea).
6) running a webserver and providing a gui for easier configuration
(the order numbering is not for priority)

This is probably more a hardware add-on but since this is a dream list I'll write it down:

- Connection to an external "relais board/control module" and firmware modification to run it

Reasons:

- For fun: Add some LEDs/signal lights that show the charging state while charging (examples: red for less than 15%, orange for 16%- 80%, green for 81% to 100%, maybe blue for 100% and charge done. Or all LEDs blink during charge and green is steady at 100% and charge done. The first idea needs less parts since the colour can be produced by two-colour leds red/green)
- Practical use: A relais for the external fast charger that switches it off when the battery is at 90%, prevents overloading.

A helpful tool….
Please make the charging power adustibel just by click on the display. I the range of 400W to 2000W.

I had other similar requests/suggestions.
I'll give it a thought.
Till now I didn't try to write data to canbus... but there is always a first time!

Sorry for the simple question: but would be the utility to manage the charging power?
Low power will bring more life to the battery?

For example: The PV makes 500W. So its better to use These "free" 500w, instead of buying 1500w extra (If charging Time doesn't Matter).
Or: Load 2 Twizys with 1000w each in the Same Phase (to Load for example 6 at the Same time on one 400V 16A CEE Port.
Everytime where time doesn't Matter. If you Load Not so fast the charger will stay (a bit) cooler and might Last longer.

Very clear.
Never thought before about theese possible circumstances.
Time permitting, I'll do some reaserch about how to write data to canbus.

Reducing charge speed, SOC via app is the main reason I use the OVMS.

Wishlist:

- Ability to rotate the screen to mount it above the windscreen up side down

It's not possible to add a flipped view as a setting, but I can upload a flipped view firmware (in a few minute, it will be available in Fw 1.3 topic).

Ich habe mein Twizy o'meter auch vor ein paar Tagen bekommen, es erstmal provisorisch installiert und ich bin die ersten Kilometer gefahren. Und was soll ich sagen, ich finde es großartig . Das Display sieht Toll aus, die GUI wurde sehr liebevoll und professionell entwickelt, sie reagiert total schnell, ist sehr übersichtlich und sehr umfassend. Daher tausend Dank und ein Großes Lob an Fabio

Eine Wifi Verbindung habe ich noch nicht hinbekommen, ich muss mich erstmal um ein stärkeren WiFi Netz in Twizy Nähe bemühen, das scheint zu schwach zu sein. Dann kann ich auch ml paar Daten zu meinem MQTT Brocker übertragen (welche Topics gibt es da?). Außerdem muss ich mal schauen, wie ich das Display am besten an der A-Säule befestigt bekomme.

Eigentlich will ich das jetzt nicht wieder kaputt machen, also bitte nicht als Kritik aufnehmen, aber folgende Kleinigkeiten sind mir aufgefallen:
1. Einmal startete das Display im modus "Laden", obwohl ich fahren wollte. Es gab leider keine Möglichkeit die Anzeige umzuschalten und da ich den Twizy nicht neu starten wollte, blieb die Anzeige so die ganze Zeit stehen.
2. Um die einzelnen Werte besser verstehen zu können, wäre es gut, wenn deren Einheiten auch angezeigt würden. Das würde in der vergrößerten Ansicht (mit dem Twizysymbol) ausreichen.
3. Es wäre toll, wenn die aktuelle Seitenkonfiguration gespeichert würde.
4. Es wäre schön, wenn man auf den Hauptbildschirmen sehen könnte, ob das Gerät per Wifi verbunden ist.
5. Die Werte beim Motordrehmoment verstehe ich nicht und ich erreiche auch nie den Maximalwert.
6. Könnte sich die Farbe beim Motordrehmoment Icon beim Rekuperieren auch ändern? Wie beim "aktueller Batteriestrom" Icon?
7. Der "aktuelle Batteriestrom" wird in A (Ampere) angegeben, nicht in Ah.
8. Beim "aktuellen Batteriestrom" erreiche ich nie den Maximalwert, sondern maximal 264A, wobei mir das auch ziemlich viel vorkommt. Bei einer Battierspannung von 54V würde das eine Leistungsaufnahme des Motors von dauerhaft 14kW bedeuten (also wenn man das überhaupt so einfach rechnen kann).
9. Achso, eins noch: wären dynamische Maximalwerte, welche über das Menü auf Defaultwerte zurück gesetzt werden können möglich (und sinnvoll?)?

Das waren erstmal die ersten Eindrücke. Die Möglichkeit per MQTT Daten lesen oder sogar schreiben zu können, finde ich sehr interessant. Damit könnte ich alle Twizy Daten auch in meiner Homeautomatisierung (openhab) verwenden und den Twizy z.B. je nach aktuellem PV Überschuss laden. Das wäre einfach Klasse

I haven't been able to connect it to WiFi yet and need to try to build a stronger WiFi network near Twizy first, it seems too weak. Then I can also transfer some data to my MQTT Broker (which topics are there?). I also have to see how I can best attach the display to the A-pillar.

Actually, I don't want to ruin it again, so please don't take it as criticism, but I noticed the following little things:
1. Once the display started in "Charge" mode even though I wanted to drive. Unfortunately, there was no way to switch the display and since I didn't want to restart the Twizy, the display stayed the whole time in "Charge" mode.
2. In order to be able to better understand the individual values, it would be good if their units were also displayed. That would be enough in the enlarged view (with the twizy icon).
3. It would be great if the current page configuration was saved in flash rom and restored after the next device start.
4. It would be nice if you could see on the main screens if the device is connected via Wifi.
5. I don't understand the motor torque values ​​and I never reach the maximum value (I see a maximum value of '22').
6. Could the color of the engine torque icon also change during recuperation? Like the "current battery power" icon?
7. The "current battery current" is given in A (Ampere), not in Ah.

Viele der von dir angesprochenen Punkte sind bereits bei Fabio bekannt und der arbeitet vermutlich schon intensiv daran, die Punkte für die nächste Firmwareversion zu abzustellen.
Beim nächsen Mal könntest du statt den Twizy das Twizy´ometer am Schalter aus- und wieder einschalten.
Das sollte auch helfen.

Das ist schon richtig, es sollte aber ein Bugreport mit dem Hinweis der nicht möglichen Umschaltung der beiden Modis sein.

Nein, das lief bisher weitgehend über PN, da ich bislang fast der einzige Nutzer war, wollte ich das Forum nicht mit diesen Punkten langweilen.
Meine vorherige Antwort sollte auch keine Kritik an deinem Post sein, sondern dich nur darüber in Kenntnis setzen, dass eine gewaltige Dynamik in der Entwicklung des Twizy o´meter steckt.

Mit der nun steigenden Zahl der Twizy o´meter Nutzer werde ich jetzt auch überwiegend in den Threads agieren, da der Personenkreis derer, die wissen worum es geht, nun größer wird.

I confirm this happens also to me, sometimes, and it's a bug.
Better, it is related to the ID of the canbus I use to check if Twizy is chariging or not.
Thanks to Snorre, I recevied from Dexter some additional information about a better way to read the charging status, so in next firmware I hope it will be fixed.

About torque and instant battery current, theese values are taken from the canbus.
So, if there aren't error in the way Twizy o'meter manipulate them for printing on the screen, should be right.
Anyway, please report me if theese values continue to appear incongruous.
